This UX project represents my own vision for enhancing the functionality of the MARTA app. Currently, the app would greatly benefit from substantial improvements to become a comprehensive navigation tool for utilizing public transportation.

App Re Design

ReImagined

Edgewood is an intown Atlanta neighborhood bound on the north by Dekalb Avenue, on the south by Memorial Drive, and on the east by Montgomery Street, Woodbine Avenue, and Rogers Street.

There are more than 3,000 households within the Edgewood Neighborhood. Edgewood is known for its historic Craftsman bungalows and eclectic housing stock nestled among legacy Post Oaks and Pecan trees replete with hoot owls, the neighborhood’s mascot.

About the Neighborhood

Visual cues are crucial for users, so integrating a functional map into the app would be immensely beneficial. This map could not only help users visualize their current location but also display train, streetcar, and bus routes, aiding in route planning. Saving frequently used routes, live tracking journeys, and receiving push notifications or alerts would further enhance the user experience. Additionally, incorporating the ability to purchase or add a digital Breeze Card within the app would maximize its utility and convenience.

Solution

Problem

The existing MARTA app offers some helpful functions, but its design execution leaves much to be desired. Navigating to schedules is not intuitive, often feeling redundant. The layout of schedules isn't optimized for mobile viewing, making it cumbersome. Additionally, the navigation feature is non-operational. Implementing features like route planning, saving routes, live tracking, and push notifications would significantly enhance its utility as a public transport navigation tool.
